TRAVEL NOTES

Some people have asked for information on travel itineraries and recommendations for lodging and attractions. I can only share my experiences and the notes from friends but here are my travel notes from places I have been and hope to visit. I will continue to update!

Tokyo, Japan

Natascha and I spent a week in Japan over Easter holiday. We get 4 day weekend here for Easter so took advantage of the time off. Our trip plan is to visit Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka.

We spent 2 days in Tokyo first. We took the train from airport to the city center.

Here is the view from our hotel. It was right near the Tokyo Station which allowed us to easily get around the city.

Imperial Palace area in Tokyo.

We did get to see some blooming cherry blossom trees.

And other cool flowers.

The tower of Tokyo lit up at night.

And of course we ate sushi!

While in Tokyo we signed up for a 2 hour Ninja Training class. We first learned to move like a ninja. Quietly, quickly, and easy to move. We got an overview of all the weapons a ninja may use. We learned that a ninja is not a warrior though, a ninja is a spy.

We used wooden swords and plastic throwing stars for training.

We then did get to use real metal throwing stars after we learned a bit. My aim is pretty good.

And after our lesson we of course had a photo shoot.

We went out around Tokyo in the evening and came across a donkey selling roses along with this guy. I thought Natascha was crazy when she said "donkey!"

Beautiful blooms in the park at night.

We met a friend of Natascha's in Tokyo and he took us out to eat. We ate these oysters which were delicious.

Then we ate "brains" or what he said were brains. Here is a salmon skull which we dipped into crab brains.

You are what you eat so we got a lot of brains!

After Tokyo, we moved onto Kyoto.
