Golden temple hotel.... Outstanding!!!
3 Day Itinerary (MB)
Start Date: September 3rd ,2015 at 11:00AM of
half day without boat ticket.
· Tour
itinerary: Boat trip on the Tonle Sap and visit Kampong Phluk. We ended up not doing this due to low season and it was recommended not a good time to go. We went to Silk Farm (which was an okay visit) and mini golf instead (which I would not recommend).
Start Date: September 4th ,2015 at 7:00AM
without temple visited ticket.
· Tour
itinerary: Pre Rup and Banteay Srei in morning, Pre Khan, East Mabon in
afternoon and Phnom Bakheng (mountain temple) for sunset
Start Date: September 5th ,2015 at 7:00AM
without temple visited ticket.
· Tour
itinerary: Angkor Wat temple- for Sunrise,
only South Gate of Angkor Thom, Central Angkor Thom(Temples include: Bayon,
Baphoun, Terrace of the Elephants, Terrace of the Leper King), Ta Prohm &
Banteay Kdei.
If/when I return to Siem Reap I would do the boat tour that we missed. I would also rent bikes and visit some local villages. Lastly, if I had time and money I would take a helicopter ride to see the temples from the sky.
Make sure to check out Blue Pumpkin ice cream place. Yum!

·
Angkor Wat (if can suffer through the mid-day heat to
avoid crowds). Note that entire Angkor Wat complex is called Angkor Wat,
but it is also the name of a specific temple- the largest one. If you
want to do sunrise, they suggest Angkor Wat, but it is very crowded and have to
rise very early. Extra charge for Sunrise: van (US$12) & tour guide (US$5)
·
Can opt to stay for sunset at Phnom Bakheng (mountain
temple). Only 300 visitors are allowed to the temple at a time, so need
to get there a bit early. (we did this on day 3, but weather was not
cooperating so we didn’t get to see sunset)

Important Travel Notes:
·
Bring visa/passport photos if you plan to do
Visa upon arrival. Can do visa ahead of time in some places.
·
Entrance Fee to Angkor Wat is $20/day or $40 for
3 day pass. USD$ Cash only
·
Cambodia Riehl is the currency but we never
needed it - all prices are in $USD and locals seemed to prefer $USD.
·
Bring bug spray definitely. Consider malaria pills (I didn't bother).
·
Dress conservatively for temples. Bringing
a scarf/wrap is not enough. Must wear shorts/skirts/capris below the
knee. No low cut shirts. If you want to wear a tank top, need to
bring a cardigan to cover shoulders for some of the temples. Ideal outfit
for males: shorts & t-shirt. Ideal outfit for females: capri pants,
long shorts that cover knees or elephant pants with a t-shirt. Hat is
helpful. Can wear flip flops, but sneakers or teeva’s may be
better.
· We had trouble at the mountain temple that they no longer allowed shawls to cover shoulders and they required sleeves.
