Attractions:
Suggest to do the hop on hop off bus to get around the city. You will get to see many temples and palaces.
1. Things to eat and see : Korea House Restaurant
There is a restaurant called "Korea House"
which is housed in a traditional Korean Architecture. In this restaurant, you can buy tickets to see
traditional performances 2 times a day in the evening at 6:30PM and 8:30PM. It would be great if you can experience the Korean
cuisine there plus enjoy a Korean performance.
Check out this site for more information.
For the menu selection, they have course menu ranging
from around U$65~ U$200.
Since this is your first time, try the cheapest one which
tends to be less exotic but very good quality.
When we went we could not get reservation for dinner but we got tickets for the show and it was excellent. Highly recommend.

2. Places to visit:
Chosun Dynasty Palace called Gyeongbok Palace
There are free guided tours at Tour in English at 11:00,
13:30, 15:30 so you might want to join the crowd at these times.
3. Places to
shop: Dongdaemoon market
Great place to shop for clothes and accessories. Remember to bargain as prices can fluctuate.
SD Itinerary:
Day 1- We did the bus tour to get a lay of the
city http://en.seoulcitybus.com/sub.php?PN=course_circulation&mainNum=2&subNum=11 We did the palace course. You can get on and off
the bus at the different stops. On this particular day, we got off at the
Korean War Memorial Museum, which was really moving, and also N Seoul Tower,
which I highly recommend. We went at dusk, so we got to see the city turn
from day to night, which was awesome. If we had more time, I would have
liked to get off also at Dongdaemun Market, but we ran out of time.
Day 2- We started off at Gyeongbokgung Palace,
which I believe is the largest of the 5 palaces in the city. There
are students that will do free tours in English (so they can practice, so
cute!) for you. There's also a changing of the guards. From there,
you can walk over to Samcheong-dong, which is a cute neighborhood with adorable
shops, cafes, restaurants, very cool and modern looking. From there, you
can continue walking to the Bukchon Hanok Village (traditional buildings,
definitely different than the rest of the very modern city). We then
walked over to Insadong, which is a great shopping area as well- with lots of
cool local street food.
At night you MUST go to the markets- they are
fantastic. If you're staying in Myeongdong, you'll be in the heart
of it. Similar to the HK markets, but slightly more upscale and LOTS
more amazing street food (Churros, cotton candy, hot dogs wrapped in French
fries- omg, and really crazy food). There's lots of other markets as well
to check out at night, we just didn't get a chance to get to those.
Also recommend checking out Itaewon,
especially in the evening, which is another cool area to explore. It's a
bit more ex-pat and the US military base is nearby (we saw some HUGE handsome
military guys out for the night). We went to a restaurant there called
Vatos Tacos, which was Korean/Mexican fusion and was delicious.
We didn't have time
for a DMZ tour- but I hear that's really cool to see as well. We also
didn't get a chance to go to the Olympic Park or Changdeokgung palace, which is
supposed to have beautiful gardens.
Notes from other people:
Insadong is the place you have to check out.
And have a tea.

Staying at BookChon Hanok Village is great to
have Korean traditional experience but transportation are not convenient. So if
your trip is short I do not recommend to stay but good to stop by and see
traditional houses.
Kyungbokgung Place
Is our last king's place! Walking distance to
Insadong so you can do it both place at one day.
Dongdaemun Design Plaza
World famous architect Zaha Hadid designed the
building and it is really cool! They just had Seoul international fashion show.
Chenel did their runway here. They have stores inside but if you want to shop,
go to shopping mall across the street.
