Important Things to Know Traveling in India:
- To even enter airports you must have proof of flight that day. So make sure to print out your reservation to show them before entering.
- You must have a paper copy of your boarding pass to be stamped. Cannot use electronic boarding pass.
- While it is not a Muslim country, most women dress conservatively so be aware of your wardrobe.
- When traveling domestically within India, you must get paper tags for each one of your hand luggage pieces that you will take on the plane. When you go through security they will stamp these paper tags. You will not be allowed part security and on the plane unless all bags you have are stamped with that days' date.
- You cannot enter airport more than 3 hours before your flight because customs cannot let you in. Don't arrive early.
- There are separate security lines for women. Expect to be separated and searched behind a curtain.
- Most hotels will have gates and security. Your bag will go through scanner and you may be wanded upon entering. Women can expect to be taken to private area for searching.
