TRAVEL NOTES

Some people have asked for information on travel itineraries and recommendations for lodging and attractions. I can only share my experiences and the notes from friends but here are my travel notes from places I have been and hope to visit. I will continue to update!

Singapore

It's been a while since I have posted. Been busy.

A few weeks ago I went to Singapore for the first time to see my friend Rachel who would be there from the US.

Unfortunately, Rachel's flight was delayed so we missed hanging out together on Saturday and only had Sunday dinner to catch up.

I was lucky that I got to stay in her hotel room at Marina Bay Sands which is one of the most expensive hotels in Singapore (and that I have even stayed in). It the hotel with 3 towers and the top roof has an infinity pool that overlooks the city.

 *this is not my picture.

Hotel is attached to a mall and casino. It reminds me very much of Foxwoods in CT.

Outside the mall there are walkways with great views of the city.

View from our hotel room.

Saturday I was on my own since Rachel's flight was delayed. So I started in Chinatown.

I really wanted to buy this suit for Justin. Ha!

I then took the subway to the Arab Quarter and found a ton of street art.

I found some neat art galleries so visited those and talked to local artists.

I then wanted to see the Merlion statue and made my way there. Of course there were wedding photos being taken.

Proof that I was actually there!

On the walk back to the hotel is this cool helix bridge.

I then had to visit the pool. Here is a picture of the infinity pool. Only hotel guests can use and they are very strict.

Decided to check out the sunset from the roof, I thought it would be too cloudy for a good sunset... guess not!

There was a free Brazilian music concert that I walked to Saturday night. Not as good as I hoped... too much talking and not enough music.

There is a nightly light/water show on the waterfront. They actually project images on water plumes.

Sunday I decided it was time to relax and I got a great seat at the pool. My pool!

Had to take the typical picture of just hanging on the edge.

Rachel worked on Sunday and then Sunday night we went to the Esplanade for dinner.

Great seeing Rachel if even for just a few hours!
